"Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower” (Anon)

This is a free social network (like a 'Cooran Facebook') started on Jul 19, for neighbours to share ideas and gardening knowledge, swap produce etc. This is a way to create a COMMUNITY of GARDENS, right from our own back yards. Join up and be part of restoring great, organic, home-grown food to our neighbourhood! (See the 'How To' blurb underneath the members piccys (left)

Rose - member

Just wanted to inform everybody that I recently welcomed a new member, Rose. After welcoming Rose, I received a message to my email account which was inappropriate. Ii am unsure if you received a message, but I wanted to inform you that she is no longer a member. I am sorry if this caused you any frustration etc.... Happy Gardening, not much in this lovely weather! Krishna

Hello Members

Hello members.  I just wanted you to know that Jo has intrusted me with administering this site.  I am not computer savy but will try my best.  I am very keen to keep this site going and invite more members to it.  In my three years of living in Cooran, I have met some wonderful and knowledgeable people.  I have met many new families, who like us, moved here to give our child/children a better life and connect them to their food, environment and be part of a wonderful community.  All us newbies…See More

Give this site a new life.

Hi everyone,I send a message out to our members this morning, but in case you've landed here by accident..here's where we're at with this little site. I started it a couple of years ago, as a way for neighbours to let others know about gardening events, sharing resources, surplus produce etc. I didn't have the time to give much effort to it after the initial set up so I pretty much made it and floated it on the wind to see if anyone else wanted to pick it up.  (It used to have about 12 groups…See More

First Harvest

Our first harvest in our new home was our bananas along with our passionfruit. Thank you to the previous owners. Tony made banana and passionfruit jam and sold it at the markets. Yummm!

Free Heirloom Tomato Seeds

Hi!If you've picked up some free heirloom tomato seeds from me at the Cooran 'Tall Trees' Street Festival (Sun 11th) they'll either be stripey tangy Green Zebras, or the chocklaty-red tasty Black Russians (I threw some basil seeds from my garden in with each because they go well together). I'm on a mission to help bring back tomatoes that actually have TASTE, and I figured giving away a couple of hundred seeds is a small start.I've planted lots of seed papers in the past and had reasonable…See More

Processing Coffee at Home - My 3 Cup Crop Story

My coffee trees are crying out to be harvested. I think the ideal time is over winter, but being mid reno, other things took priority! Last year myself and various friends and bystanders picked, pulped, peeled, dried and roasted our way through the beans of my six trees and came up with a whopping first-time haul that I fondly refer to as my "Three Cup Crop". (It probably made a couple of dozen cups but the people who received a weeny jar of it for Christmas were nevertheless reminded of just…See More
